
In this battle report we have a 2000pt game using the MechaStellar VER10 rules, one side we have the SEED Duo of Kira and Athrun piloting the Freedom and Justice Gundams. On the other side we have Anavel Gato, The Nightmare of Solomon, piloting the stolen GP02 using the MLRS (Multi-Launch Rocket System) configuration as well as Paptimus Scirocco in The O. In this cross universe game, the SEED Duo are facing off against two of Universal Century Gundam’s biggest villains. Read on below the break to see the results of the battle report.

Note: This game is using some rules for next month’s update which includes an upgraded Iron Wall skill. Additionally, Flash and Iron Wall are no longer locked to unit types like Mobile Suit or Super Robot.
Game 1 – Round 1

Athrun in the Justice goes first, captures a Control Point then fires his Lupus Beam Rifle at GP02.
GP02 retaliates with the Multi-Launch Rocket System (MLRS) which has a base of 10 attack dice. Furious Fusillade gives +3 bonus dice on Barrage which become auto-hits since dice pools are capped at 10. This leads to considerable auto-hits every time GP02 attacks. Bad news for Justice but Athrun’s strong defense combined with phase shift keeps the Justice afloat.

Kira in the Freedom is up next, he uses Boost to accelerate and take the high ground. Then fires its railguns into The O. The high ground and Freedom’s powerful offense land several hits onto The O despite Scirocco’s strong defenses.
The O uses his turn to capture a distance control point, and his Newtype Pressure causes two Morale Saves to Rout on the SEED Team.
Round 2

GP02 is up first and bombards Freedom then falls back behind cover.

Freedom takes the ultra-bold maneuver to take the center control point and high ground. He uses Hi-Mats (Zeal) and unloads with three weapons into The O.
If you recall The O has upgraded defense dice, even with Freedom’s offensive advantages, it’s not enough to finish him off. The O has taken a total of 4900 DMG and is below half HP.

Scirocco’s turn, below half HP he chooses two units to force Morale Saves vs Rout, further draining the Momentum pool of the SEED forces.
The O then uses Boost and accelerates getting into melee with Freedom. Scirocco uses Valor and Freedom is too low on Momentum to use Flash to counter. Kira luckily has a miraculous roll on defense and survives with 400 HP remaining.
Now it’s Athrun’s turn.

The building is too small to fit a third unit on top and with Freedom tied up in melee, melee is the only option. Athrun hatches a bold scheme, he’ll destroy the building. First he activates Hi-Mats (Zeal) and the Fortis Beam Cannons take the building down, with the remaining action Justice Gundam gets into melee with The O.
The melee focused suits square off, Justice lands a decisive blow and finishes off The O.

But the turn isn’t over yet! Athrun maneuvers further forward, captures the Control Point then throws a beam boomerang at GP02 Physalis.
Round 3

Gato puts some distance between himself and Athrun and then launches a final missile assault on Freedom bringing it down.

Athrun presses forward and gets into melee with GP02 who survives thanks to Iron Wall.
Round 4

GP02 is up first, and is no slouch at melee. After a melee clash Justice survives thanks to Iron Wall as well. Gato unloads with his vulcans, and lands a Finishing Blow (2000 DMG). The Phase Shift had been weakened from The Os beam sabers earlier, and the vulcans tore through a weak point.
VICTORY – Team UC
Rematch Game – Round 1

Physalis is up first, launches some indirect fire (IDF) rockets into Justice than hides behind cover.
This time the Gundam SEED player tries for a less reckless approach. Justice with the Guardian role and higher Defense takes point and captures the central control point.
If you recall the center area normally requires being on top of the building, but the player decided to be clever, blow up the building and stand on top the rubble.

The evil mastermind player is quite happy Justice moved closer and gladly engages it in melee with Scirocco’s The O. Justice stands firm and the two square off with minimal damage after counterattacks.
Meanwhile Freedom captures another objective thanks to Boost, then unloads on the Physalis, the plasma cannons destroy the cover and hit physalis followed by a shot from the TL Railguns.
Round 2

Justice is excellent at close combat and defense so The O breaks away and engages Freedom. Thanks to Scirocco’s Newtype Pressure the SEED team is losing Momentum but Freedom survives.
Athrun is smart this game, maneuvers to capture the enemy home control point then blasts Physalis with the Fortis Beam Cannons and it’s beam boomerangs.
GP02 Physalis takes the center control point and unloads another rocket salvo.
Round 3

Freedom is up first, breaks away and maneuvers behind Physalis, the pincer attack formation this Round is setting it up next round for a Blindside attack potentially.

Physalis nearly takes out Freedom, but thanks to SEED mode Kira survives with a couple hundred HP, and the counterattack wipes out GP02.

Athrun once again spends this Round capturing control points. The O chases him down and takes the center CP.
Round 4 & 5

Scirocco’s gets a lucky series of crits and finishing blows and wipes Justice out. The Freedom unloads with what it has available but Scirocco’s Newtype abilities keep him alive in Round 4.
Round 5, The O corners Freedom in Melee who miraculously survives. Kira retaliates on his turn and goes for a decisive strike finishing off The O.
After Action Report
Gundam SEED Player
This was a super close game and I won because I was gambling on getting my HP low enough to activate SEED early and not accidentally blow up. Which nearly happened a few times, but thanks to Iron Wall my guys dipped below 50% and were running and gunning all game. I realized after the first game I’d have to rely on SEED to stay alive because the MLRS option on GP02 is really, really good especially when the pilot is upgraded and barrage is just dumping free hits across the map.
Team Irresistible UC Villains
We were looking for MSIA figures we have on hand, and thought “this would be an interesting teamup”. In reality I don’t Gato’s personality too strong and Scirocco too much of a manipulator for the two of them to ever successfully work together long term, but it made for a fun match up.
MLRS is good, and I recommend people check it out, especially if you upgrade the barrage skill. Likewise giving Scirocco bumped up defense meant he could literally tank beam shots (which The O is known for) and keep plowing forward. I think I had a solid team up and with upgraded pilots I felt like I had the edge in both games vs the stock profiles for Kira and Athrun.
I’m happy with the upgraded Iron Wall, but I do think SEED (Berserker trait) might be a bit too strong since it’s not too hard to slip below 50% HP. I found the best way to deal with SEED was to get in unit Counters since it turns off Dodge and gives me a chance to break through their lucky CRIT DEF streaks.
