MechaStellar Battle Report – Snipers vs Firepower Mecha

GM Sniper Custom

While doing some test games for some adjustments to Snipers and long range skills we put together a pair of games taking some extreme army lists.  For this game we had a match between two Federation forces with one heavily skewed towards Snipers and while heavily skewed towards Firepower units.

Gundam Ground Type Guncannon Guntank Full Armor Gundam

The Firepower forces decided to build a castle in the far corner to protect their units with lower Melee. The Commanders were the GP04 Gerbera and Full Armor Gundam Type B who both used the Unyielding trait.

Round 1

GM Sniper II GP04 Gerbera Gundam Ground Type

Guntank is up first and uses Indirect Fire (IDF) with 4 Hits on the GM Sniper [G] they lose [M-1] to survive.  With no target in sight the GM Sniper [G] uses full throttle to the next building.  The Sniper players strategy is to move closer quickly so they are no longer in IDF bombardment range.

A Gundam [G] uses its artillery cannon to send 3 Hits into the GM Sniper [G] bringing it down earning [M+1].

GP04 takes the High Ground the fires 4 Hits into a Gundam [G] who survives.  The Gundam [G] is a skilled pilot and so is not required to target the unit that attacked it and instead fires on a GM Sniper Custom scoring 1 Hit with its artillery cannon.

With no target in sight the GM Sniper Custom uses full throttle.

GM Sniper Custom Full Armor Gundam Type B

The next Gundam [G] attacks another GM Sniper Custom scoring 2 Hits, they lose [M-1] to survive.  The GM Sniper Custom once again has no visible targets and uses Full Throttle, the two stand back to back behind large cover. 

Guncannon uses its artillery scoring 1 Hit on the GM Custom and its beam rifle into GM Sniper Custom but fails to hit.

The GM Custom uses full throttle to take the high ground, its machine gun unloads 7 Hits into wounded the Gundam [G] , the GM Rifle strikes some vital parts exposed by the GP04s beam rifle earlier, the Gundam [G] goes down earning [M+1]

GM Sniper Custom Full Armor Gundam

Full Armor Gundam Type B is up next, it uses Full Throttle to get into a good position then  it’s beam rifles tear into the GM Sniper II and Custom thanks to Furious Fusillade trait. 

GM Sniper II GM Sniper Custom Full Armor Gundam

It scores 4 Hits to GM Sniper Custom who loses [M-4] to block all hits, 3 Hits on the GM Sniper II who miraculously makes all three armor saves.  It then blasts a micromissiles salvo into the GM Sniper Custom finishing them off and earning [M+1]

GM Sniper II is up last, while they’d love to attack the Full Armor Gundam it’s a steep penalty to use the Prototype Beam Sniper in this close range, so instead it fires on a Gundam [G] with 7 Hits, they lose [M-1] to bring it down to 6 hits then [M-3] to pass all the failed Armor Saves.

EOR Momentum Sniper 0  /  Firepower 3.  Each side then gains [M+1].

Round 2

GM Sniper Custom is up first and senses imminent doom from the Full Armor Gundam, rushes forward and finishes off the wounded Gundam [G] with 7 Hits earning [M+1].

Guncannon’s beam rifle scores 2 Hits on the GM Custom who passes their Armor Saves, its cannons deliver 1 Hit into GM Sniper II.

GM Custom unloads into Guntank with 11 Hits bringing it down [M+1].  It then uses full throttle to melee into the last Gundam [G] Melee [M+1] ATK 6 Hits vs DEF 4 Blocks, they lose [M-2] to fully block the attack.

Gundam [G] responds in kind Melee [M+1] ATK 10 Hits vs DEF 2 Blocks (ouch) goodbye GM Custom.  Its artillery cannon delivers 3 Hits into GM Sniper II who loses [M-2] to survive.

GM Sniper II delivers 7 hits into Gundam [G] finishing them off and earning [M+1]

Full Armor Gundam marches forward and uses Furious Fusillade to missile pod into GP04 (3 Hits) and also to finish off the GM Sniper Custom.  Then a Giant Rocket Launcher puts 2 Hits into GP04 who loses [M-2] to avoid them then its triple beam rifle delivers 3 Hits but no failed Armor Saves. 

GP04 returns fire and delivers 5 Hits which is stopped by Ace Evade [M-2].  Then she full throttles and melees [M+1] Guncannon ATK 5 Hits vs DEF 3 Blocks, Guncannon loses [M-2] to survive.

EOR Momentum  Sniper 3  /  Firepower 0.  Each side then gains [M+1]

EOR VP  Sniper 12  /  Firepower 9

Round 3

GM Sniper II is up first, moves to the table edge to avoid Rapid Fire penalties with their protoype beam sniper and delivers 7 hits into the Full Armor Gundam who fails two Armor Saves and uses [M-1] to negate one.

Full Armor Gundam retaliates, its triple beam rifle riddles the area holes leaving a collapsing building and a GM Sniper II torn limb from limb.  [M+1]

It finishes its turn using Full Throttle to reach the high ground to get a better vantage point to strike GP04.

GP04 is up next Melee [M+1] ATK 6 Hits vs DEF 2 Blocks, down goes Guncannon. [M+1]  It strafes around the map and lands 4 Hits into Full Armor Gundam  who fails two Armor Saves and burns [M-1] to negate one.

EOR Momentum Snipers 6 / Firepower 0.  Each side then gains [M+1]

EOR VP Sniper 16  /  Firepower 12

EOR HP GP04 1500 / 3500  /  Full Armor 5300/6000

Round 4

Full Armor Gundam is up first, had GP04 won initiative she would have been behind his rear arc and scored a Blindside attack, alas the dice were not with her.  Full Armor Gundam whirls around and lets out a salvo of missile, rockets and beams into GP04.  Giant Rocket Launcher 3 Hits [M-3], Triple Beam Rifle 4 Hits [M-4], Missile Pod 3 Hits.

GP04 Beam Rifle delivers 5 Hits, the Full Armor Gundam had the Unyielding Commander trait and survives with 1 HP.

Since GP04 also has the Unyielding trait the players agree to end the game there, since it won’t be possible to destroy GP04 next round and earn enough VP.
