MechaStellar – Bonus Roster Update – Great Mazinger

We are ahead of schedule and so for this month in addition to Combattler V and Voltes V we’re adding another fan favorite series to the roster, Great Mazinger (1974) the sequel to Toei’s Mazinger Z (1972). We’re also including a Core Rules revision which streamlines some of the Stellar Warfare rules in preparation for the upcoming Captain Harlock release.

The Great General of Darkness (暗黒大将軍 Ankoku Daishōgun) is unleashed upon the world and must be stopped, a new hero emerges, the Great Mazinger built by Kenzo Kabuto, Kouji’s deceased father now revived as a cyborg. Our new heroes, Tetsuya Tsurugi and Jun Hono step in to fight off the Great General using Great Mazinger and Venus A. You can read more about Mazinger’s production run here.

We included unit profiles for Great Mazinger, Venus A, The Great General of Darkness as well as some of our favorite Warrior Beasts (the replacement for Kikaiju) from Great Mazinger. We’ve also included a Shin Great Mazinger as well, although it appeared only briefly in Shin Mazinger (2009). And we also finished some profiles for our favorite Kaiju from Combattler V and Voltes V.

Lastly there is a weapon rebalance that principally affect Beam Machine Guns which are moving up to DMG 200. This is done to deal with certain games where a unit who only wields a beam machine gun could only do insignificant damage to a unit with a high pool of HP / Armor saves such as the Full Armor Gundam, Mazinger, or any of the 5 from Gundam Wing. Since we’re modifying the beam machine gun we also have to adjust the Beam Pistol, Pistol and Shotgun to keep parity with the beam machine gun.

  • EQ / HP Tweaks to Peformance 5+ Units
  • Based on feedback updated the four Gurren Lagann ganmen generals
  • Based on Feedback updateed weaponry on Combattler V
  • Fixed error on Hell King Gordon EQ Slots then rebalanced
  • Fixed move error on GaoGaiGar Brave robots
  • Fixed EQ / Cost error on Gelgoog marine, GM Custom, Gundam Alex and Gwazine
  • Fixed size error on Gau and Big Tray
  • Adjusted Long Barrel Machine Gun, Antiship Rifle and Guncannon MP
  • Blue Destiny – Newtype Miasma – Must spend [M-1] to use any Reroll abilities this turn
  • Upgraded Master of Arms trait
  • Rebalanced I-Fields.  Updated the other Force Field type abilities to use Power or Havoc instead of Momentum.
  • Upgraded range on Missile Salvo
  • Rebalanced beam machine guns, shotguns, pistols and beam pistols.

CORE RULES

  • Added an example to Shields in the Core Rules
  • High Speed Attack gives +2 PEN to [CC] Weapons
  • Clarified deep water terrain in Cover rules
  • Fixed typo in SRW Module Destruction VP, should be each Round instead of each Turn
  • Stellar Warfare Module
    • Added a note about Land Battles under Deployment / Hangar / Spread M-Particles
    • Streamlined Stellar Warfare – Outmaneuver / Bridge Attack
    • Added a note about melee range for Warships.
    • Clarified that Lock-on is a Warship focus action and rebalanced the effect.
    • Removed the requirement to use a Lock-on action to target a MS outside of Sensors range
    • Allowed Warships to Overwatch once per turn with a single weapon against any target that moves within 24″ to encourage more back and forth interaction in the Mech phase.  Rebalanced Warships [AA] weapons.
    • Capped Warships Armor Saves at 5
    • Warships Armor Saves – Updated that the Captain decides if they will take 1000 DMG or lose a Weapon per failed Armor Save
    • Updated Captain’s Order to require Momentum or Influence but upgraded their effects.  Updated several army wide Commands to match the Captain’s Orders.
    • Updated Level II Pilot and Captain Traits
    • Updated Warships Evade formula (units affected Dai-Gunkai, Arcadia)

Wargame Rules

  • Adjusted the upgrade bonus for Performance improvement
  • Added Logistic Support to Core Rules
