
Here we have a gameplay example for MechaStellar VER9.5 using 1/144 scale Gundam figure. On one side we have Kamille’s Zeta Gundam and Kai’s Guncannon, on the other we have the unlikely teamup of Garrod’s Gundam X and Norris Packard Gouf Custom. Read on below the break for Round 3.

Round 3
Starting Momentum = ZetaCannon 4 | Gouf GX 4
Kamille’s Turn
Kamille is up first he transformed back into a Mobile Suit and challenges Norris who accepts.
The purpose of Challenge is to let you forge your own narrative and have named or original pilots force a showdown from Round to Round. Challenge provides a benefit where if any other unit attacks them they can Counterattack for free [M-0]. i.e. If the Guncannon shoots at the Gouf, Norris can counterattack for free.
Kamille’s goal is to take down the Gouf before he can dismember Kai’s Guncannon
- Kamille’s beam rifle (6d10) has target lock (+1 shot) is in rapid fire range (+1 shot) and he chooses barrage (+1 shot)
- 9d10 = [2,2,2,3,3,4,4,8,9] = 2 Hits
- Kamille will Focus [M-1] to hit on a 3+ = +4 Hits
- While shooting Zeta Gundam gives a bonus +8 Hits
- Kamille’s trait now gives +2 Crits on a Challenge = +4 Hits
- Total = 2+4+8+4 = 18 Hits
- 9d10 = [2,2,2,3,3,4,4,8,9] = 2 Hits
- Norris chooses Dodge (8++) and gets a Target Lock bonus (+1 die) on Defense
- 7d10 = [2,3,4,4,5,6,8] = 2 DEF + 1 Crit = 4 DEF
- Norris uses Focus [M-1] to defend on a 3+ = +3 DEF
- The Gouf & Shield have an Evade bonus of +5 DEF
- Norris will use Flash [M-3] for +5 DEF
- Total = 4+3+5+5 = 17 DEF
- 7d10 = [2,3,4,4,5,6,8] = 2 DEF + 1 Crit = 4 DEF
- There is 1 Unblocked hit for 300 DMG and an Armor Save vs PEN 6
- Norris rolls a 6 and survives!
Gouf Custom HP 400/3700

Not satisfied Kamille is going to go in for melee. He uses Zeal [M-1] for +1 Combat Action. Since Zeta Gundam has an impressive movement stat he circles around the Gouf Custom staying out of its engagement range before getting into melee, presenting one more obstacle to prevent the Gouf Custom from striking Guncannon.
Moving closer gives a Momentum Shift for [M+1] bringing their current total to [M=3].
- Kamille’s beam saber is 7d10 he chooses Swift Melee (Crit 9++) to avoid a counterattack from Norris if he somehow survives again.
- 7d10 = [2,3,3,3,5,10] = 1 Hit + 1 Crit = 3 Hits
- While it’s very tempting Kamille is loathe to Focus again since he wants to save that Momentum for Flash later.
- In Melee Zeta Gundam gives a bonus +5 Hits
- Kamille’s trait gives +2 Crits on Challenge = +4 Hits
- Total = 3+5+4 = 12 Hits
- 7d10 = [2,3,3,3,5,10] = 1 Hit + 1 Crit = 3 Hits
- Norris chooses to Dodge (8++), the Gouf Custom is also 6d10 on Melee Defense
- 6d10 = [1,5,5,7,9,10] = 3 DEF + 2 Crits = 7 DEF
- Norris has been rolling hot all game, will his luck hold out forever?
- In Melee the Gouf Custom has a bonus +6 DEF
- Total = 13 DEF

“Who is this guy” shouts Kamille. “Hmph. His impetuousness reminds me of Shiro” thinks Norris
The Commander’s of both teams use Trust at the end of this unit turn since several units are low on HP. Norris gets [5,5] = +1000 HP and Kai uses Trust on Kamille for [3,6] = +900 HP
- Gouf Custom = 1400 / 3700 HP
- Zeta Gundam = 2100 / 4100 HP
- Guncannon = 700 / 4500 HP
- GX-9900 = 4900 / 4100 HP (Garrod’s pilot trait lets him exceed his HP total)

Norris’ Turn
As seen in the picture above, thanks to Kamille’s maneuver there is no longer enough room to disengage and attack Guncannon. Props to the player for making the most of their movement.
While already engaged, Norris burns a Move action to trigger a Momentum Shift but Norris will instead use his Pilot trait to gain 2x10x100 HP = [3,5] = +800 HP.
Gouf Custom HP 2200/3700
Before the attack, Norris fierce reputation causes Kamille to make 2 Morale saves vs Rout. Kamille is an Ace Pilot with a Morale of 5+ but rolls [1,5] so their team loses [M-1], having [M<3] is generally pretty dangerous since it’s hard to defend against a strong attack without Flash. Fortunately, Kamille is a Newtype…
[M] ZetaCannon 2 | Gouf GX 1
- Norris starts with the Arc Whip (7d10) this is a melee weapon with a slightly longer reach than normal. It’s Melee so Norris chooses Glorious Melee (Crit 8++ & +1 Attack die)
- 8d10 = [1,2,2,4,5,7,8,9] = 2 Hits + 2 Crits = 6 Hits
- The Arc whip rerolls 1s & 2s into [3,3,10] = +1 Crit = +2 Hits
- In Melee the Gouf gives a bonus +5 Hits
- Total = 6+2+5 = 13 Hits
- 8d10 = [1,2,2,4,5,7,8,9] = 2 Hits + 2 Crits = 6 Hits
- Kamille chooses Guard bringing his total melee defense from 6d10 to 7d10
- 7d10 = [2,4,5,8,9,10,10] = 3 DEF + 2 Crits = 7 DEF
- In Melee Zeta Gundam gives a bonus +4 DEF
- Total = 11 DEF
- There are 2 Unblocked Hits. Kamille knows that if he fails those Armor Saves he will potentially shut down as the electricity arcs through his suit.
- It’s only 2 Unblocked Hits but Kamille uses his Newtype III ability to use Flash for free. He has two uses of this left this game.
Norris uses Zeal [M-1] and attacks in melee with his heat sword. Fierce reputation cannot affect the same unit twice in one turn.
- Norris attacks with the Heat Sword with Glorious Melee Combat (Crit 8++ and +1 Attack die) bringing his total from 7d10 to 8d10
- 8d10 = [3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10] = 3 Hits + 3 Crits = 9 Hits
- In Melee the Gouf gives a bonus +5 Hits
- Total = 9 + 5 = 14 Hits
- Kamille chooses Dodge (Crit 9++) and hopes he gets lucky
- 6d10 = [2,5,6,8,9,9] = 3 DEF + 2 Crits = 7 DEF
- In Melee Zeta gets a bonus +4 DEF
- Total = 7 + 4 = 11 DEF
- It’s only 3 Hits but Kamille is worried about taking a hard hit now. He uses Newtype Flash once again to fully avoid Norris’ attack. As an [Ace] unit it also grants a potent benefit…
Kamille chooses to Counterattack for [M-1], since he used the Flash Skill as an Ace it transforms into the Intuition skill which lets him avoid the -2 HIT penalty for Counterattack. Do note that Counterattack prevents all elite pilot bonuses like Swift Melee or Dodge.

- 7d10 = [2,2,4,5,8,10,10] = 2 Hits + 2 Crits = 6 Hits
- In Melee Zeta Gundam gives a bonus +5 Hits
- Kamille’s Pilot trait gives +2 Crits under Challenge = +4 Hits

- Norris still has a permanent +1 Crit Range thankfully for 9++
- 6d10 = [5,6,6,8,8,9] = 5 DEF + 1 Crits = 7 DEF
- In Melee the Gouf gives a bonus +6 DEF
- Total = 7 + 6 = 13 DEF
- There are 2 Unblocked Hits for 400 DMG each and 2 Armor Saves vs PEN 7.
- Norris rolls [2,7] the failed save does another 1000 DMG
Gouf Custom HP 400 / 3700
Norris is glad he used the Momentum shift for HP now. The players describe Zeta Gundam’s beam saber slicing part of Norris shield and cutting off one of the shoulder pauldrons and the command antenna of the Gouf while Norris barely scrapes by with his life from the death-dealing Kamille Bidan.

Kai’s turn
With Zeta Gundam and the Gouf Custom embroiled in melee Kai’s only shooting option is Garrod’s Gundam X which fortunately after moving is within range of his twin-linked shoulder cannons sitting just shy of his maximum effective range.
Moving closer to the enemy triggers a Momentum Shift [M+1].
Unfortunately for Garrod, destroying the terrain to shoot Zeta Gundam backfired since there’s no longer anything between him and Guncannon. Destroyed terrain pieces no longer provide the benefits of cover. After firing Kai will strafe to try and get cover in-between himself and Garrod.
- Kai chooses Barrage (+1) shot with his cannons (5d10)
- 6d10 = [2,2,5,5,8,10] = 2 Hits + 1 Crit = 5 Hits
- On shooting the Guncannon gives a bonus +5 Hits
- Total = 10 Hits
- Garrod chooses Dodge (Crit 9++)
- 8d10 = [2,3,3,4,5,5,7,8] = 4 DEF
- Unfortunately they are out of Momentum so Focus isn’t an option
- On Evade the GX-9900, a long range bombardment type that relies on its companion Gundams or G-Bits only gets +3 DEF
- Total = 7 DEF
- 8d10 = [2,3,3,4,5,5,7,8] = 4 DEF
- There are 3 unblocked hits deailng 500 DMG each, the GX was at 4900/4100 HP.

Garrod’s turn
Garrod’s team needs Momentum badly, his priority is the center control point but thanks to the Momentum shift [M+1] from moving forward he can accelerate and capture the center CP. Now closer he can use Zeal [M-1] to attack.
- The GX shoots its rifle (6d10) with Barrage (+1 shot)
- 7d10 = [2,2,4,6,6,8,8] = 4 Hits
- On Shooting the GX-9900 gives a bonus +7 Hits
- Total = 11 Hits
- Kai chooses Dodge (Crit 9++)
- 8d10 = [1,2,2,3,4,9,9,9] = 3 Crit DEF = 6 DEF
- Must be Kai’s lucky day
- Kai will use Focus for +2 DEF
- On Evade Guncannon only gives a bonus +1 DEF
- Kai’s Pilot trait gives +1 DEF
- Cover gives +2 DEF
- Vs DMG 300 it survives on a 3+ which it does with a [6]
- Total = 6+2+1+1+2 = 12 DEF

- Kai the former White Base pilot displays some of his former prowess as a Pilot with a grin and quick retort “Wow I thought Gundam pilots were supposed to be better than this”
