MechaStellar VER10 Gameplay Example – Round 4

Here we have a gameplay example for MechaStellar VER9.5 using 1/144 scale Gundam figure. On one side we have Kamille’s Zeta Gundam and Kai’s Guncannon, on the other we have the unlikely teamup of Garrod’s Gundam X and Norris Packard Gouf Custom. Read on below the break for Round 4.

Round 4

The Gouf Gundam X team are up first.  They consider their options.  If they activate the Gouf Custom first, he’s unlikely to finish off Kamille’s Zeta Gundam this turn, but if they activate Garrod’s Gundam X first they have a very good chance of finishing off Kai’s Guncannon.  We’ll just have to hope Norris can survive the next turn.

  • Zeta Gundam HP 2100/4100

Garrod’s Turn

Garrod challenges Kai’s Guncannon who accepts. Garrod moves up, their Momentum is too high to benefit from Momentum Shift currently, but he is close enough for Target Lock and Rapid Fire.

  • Garrod fires the GX Shield Rifle (6d10) chooses Barrage (+1 Shot), he has Rapid Fire (+1 Shot) and Target Lock (+1 Shot)
    • 9d10 = [2,2,3,4,5,6,8,10,10] = 3 Hits + 2 Crit = 7 Hits
      • Garrod uses Focus so the 3 & 4 = +2 Hits
    • While shooting the GX-9900 gives a bonus +7 Hits
    • Total = 7+2+7 = 16 Hits
  • Kai will choose to Dodge (Crit DEF 9+)
    • 8d10 = [2,4,4,5,6,8,8,9] = 4 DEF + 1 Crits = 6 DEF
      • Kai uses [M-1] to Focus =+2 DEF
    • On Evade Guncannon gives +1 DEF
    • Kai’s Pilot trait gives +1 DEF
    • Total = 10 DEF
    • Kai loses [M-3] to use Flash and gain +5 DEF
    • There is one unblocked hit for 300 DMG and 1 Armor Save vs PEN 7
      • Kai gets lucky and rolls a 10

Guncannon HP 400/4500

Garrod could have fired the Satellite cannon now in Round 4, but he decided to save it against the stronger foe, Zeta Gundam. Even though it’s underground you can make your own narrative, perhaps part of the ceiling collapsed and was never repaired from the OYW, moonlight shines in from above.

Kai’s Turn

The Guncannon activates. He uses his TL cannons which have a rapid fire bonus. If he got into Rapid Fire range with his beam rifle,the GX-9900 with it’s impressive Sensors would gain a Target Lock bonus on Defense.

  • The Cannons are 5d10, Rapid Fire (+2 shots) and Barrage (+1 Shot) with Target Lock (+1 shot)
    • 9d10 = [2,2,4,5,7,8,10,10,10] = 2 Hits + 3 Crits = 9 Hits
    • On Shooting Guncannon gives a bonus +5 Hits
    • Total = 9+5 = 14 Hits
  • Garrod chooses to Dodge (Crit DEF 9+)
    • 8d10 = [1,2,2,4,6,7,9,9] = 2 DEF + 2 Crits = 6 DEF
    • On Evade the GX-9900 gives a bonus +3 DEF
    • Garrod has Cover +2 DEF
      • Reminder we moved the model to make it more visible in the photos above
      • It survives on a 5+ with a [7]
    • Total = 11 DEF
  • There are 3 Unblocked Hits. Garrod’s HP is pretty high so he will elect to take the hit.
    • 3 Hits x 500 = 1500 DMG

GX-9900 = 1900/4100

Guncannon will now use both move actions to retreat and put distance between him and the Gouf Custom as well as gaining cover

Norris turn. Time for an arc whip encore.

Norris Fierce Reputation would trigger a Morale Save vs Rout, but the enemy team is already out of Momentum

  • Arc Whip (7d10) + Glorious Melee (Crit 8++ and +1 Attack die)
    • 8d10 = [2,3,3,3,4,7,7,8] = 2 Hits + 1 Crit = 4 Hits
      • The Arc whip rerolls 1s & 2s, the [2,2] rerolls into a [1,2]
        • As a reminder you can’t reroll a reroll
      • Norris uses Focus [M-1] = +4 Hits
      • In Melee the Gouf gets a bonus +5 Hits
      • Total = 4+4+5=13 Hits
  • Zeta has 6d10 Melee defense, Kamille chooses to Guard (+1 Defense die)
    • 7d10 = [2,2,5,6,6,8,10] = 4 DEF + 1 Crit = 6 DEF
    • In Melee Zeta gives a bonus +4 DEF
    • Total = 10 DEF
  • There are 3 Unblocked Hits which force 3 Armor Saves vs PEN 6S
    • Kamille is going to risk it [2,7,9] = 1 Failed Save so Zeta Gundam has 1 Stun Token. On its next turn it will have -1 Action but fortunately does not shutdown.

Still engaged Norris burns a Move action for a Momentum shift [M+1] but uses his Pilot trait to instead convert that into 2d10x100 HP = [2,8].

Gouf Custom HP = 1400/3700

Norris uses Zeal [M-3] for +3 Combat Actions to attack Zeta twice with his Heat Sword hoping to finish him off.

  • Heat Sword (7d10) + Glorious Melee (+1 Crit Range & +1 ATK Die)
    • 8d10 = [2,2,2,3,4,7,8,9] = 1 Hit + 2 Crits = 5 Hits
    • In Melee Gouf gets +5 Hits
    • Total = 10 Hits
  • Zeta (6d10) + Guard (+1)
    • 7d10 = [2,4,4,5,5,8,10] = 3 DEF + 1 Crit = 5 DEF
    • In Melee Zeta gets +4 DEF
    • Total = 9 DEF
  • There is 1 unblocked Hit for 700 DMG and an Armor Save vs PEN 5
    • Kamille rolls a [8] and passes

Zeta Gundam HP 1400/4100

Norris has 2 Combat actions left, it will cost him 2 to attack with the same weapon twice. He attacks with the Heat Sword again.

  • Heat Sword (7d10) + Glorious Melee (+1 Crit & ATK)
    • 8d10 = [2,3,3,3,5,7,10,10] = 2 Hits + 2 Crits = 6 Hits
      • Uses Focus = +3 Hits
    • In Melee Gouf gets +5 Hits
    • Total = 6+3+5= 14 Hits
  • Zeta (6d10) + Guard (+1)
    • 7d10 = [1,2,3,5,6,8,9] = 4 DEF
    • In Melee Zeta gets +4 DEF
    • Total = 8 DEF
    • Kamille uses his last use of Newtype Flash for +5 DEF
  • There is 1 unblocked Hit for 700 DMG and an Armor Save vs PEN 5
    • Kamille rolls a [5] and passes. The Zeta player proceeds to jeer and taunts the Gouf player.

Zeta Gundam HP 700/4100

Both players have managed to keep their units alive so far. They both use the Commander’s Strategy – Trust to recover HP. Zeta regains 2d10 = [3,2] =+500 HP while the Gouf Custom regains [2,4] = +600 HP

Kamille’s Turn

Thanks to Stun Zeta Gundam has -1 action, so it burns off a Combat action. Kamille uses their a Move action while engaged to trigger a Momentum shift [M+1]. Then uses [M-2] Zeal for +2 Combat Actions. First, Melee!

  • Zeta Beam Saber (7d10) + Swift Melee (Crit 9++ & No Counter)
    • 7d10 = [2,4,4,6,8,8,8] = 4 Hits
    • In Melee Zeta gives a bonus +5 Hits
    • Kamille’s trait gives a bonus +2 Hits
    • Total = 4+5+2 = 11 Hits
  • Norris has Melee DEF 6d10 and chooses Guard (+1 die) and has a natural 9++ Crit range
    • 7d10 = [2,3,4,7,7,9,9] = 2 DEF + 2 Crits = 6 DEF
    • In Melee the Gouf gives +6 DEF
    • Total = 12 DEF

If Norris had any Momentum left he would have loved to Counterattack.

After resolving attacks, as an Elite pilot Kamille has the option to disengage which he does. He uses his 2nd move action to move backwards and….closer to Garrod’s GX-9900. Kamille uses Zeal [M-1] for +1 Combat Action. He raises his beam rifle and fires a decisive shot.

  • Kamille fires the Zeta’s beam rifle (6d10) with Rapid Fire (+1 Shot), Barrage (+1 Shot), Target Lock (+1 Shot)
    • 9d10 = [2,3,4,5,5,5,7,8,10] = 5 Hits + 1 Crit = 7 Hits
    • On Shooting Zeta Gundam gets +8 Hits
    • Kamille’s pilot trait gives +2 Hits
    • Total = 7+8+2 = 17 Hits
  • Garrod in the GX-9900 (Evade) 8d10 tries to Dodge (Crit DEF 9++) and gains a Target Lock bonus (+1 die) on Defense.
    • 9d10 = [1,2,3,3,3,3,5,6,6] = 3 DEF
      • What a bad time to be out of Momentum
    • On Evade the GX-9900 gives +3 DEF
    • Total = 6 DEF
  • There are 11 Unblocked Hits dealing 300 DMG each = 3300 DMG
    • There are also 5 Armor Saves vs PEN 6
      • Garrod gets [3,4,5,8,10] = +3000 DMG
    • And a Finishing Blow for +1000 DMG

GX-9900 HP -5400 / 4100

The GX-9900 gets obliterated by the barrage of shots. The player vows to rebuild it as the GX-Divider later for Revenge. Speaking of which, Norris could declare Revenge at this point, but that permanent challenge would only serve to enhance Kamille’s lethality due to his pilot trait so he foregoes it.

At the end of his turn Kamille rolls 3d10 to remove stun DMG, each 5+ can remove a stun damage. With [2,6,10] he is back to normal.

  • Zeta Cannon gain [M+4] from 2 CPs = 4
