MechaStellar Playtest Photos – Magellan Class Battleship #1

Magellan class battleship GM Cannon

Below is a collection of photos of when we were testing the Earth Federations Magellan class Battleship as well as the updated Stellar Warship rules for MechaStellar VER 8. Below is a very brief battle report as well. There’s also a short battle report for a Guncannon team and one with the Blue Destiny 3.

We begin with 4 GMs and a GM Cannon onboard a Magellan who must quickly sortie to defend against a pair of Musais each with a full complement of Zaku IIs onboard. Outnumbered 2:1 things are looking grim for the Federation.

MechaStellar – April 2023 Roster Update

For this month’s update we are up finishing up the majority of the G Gundam cast with fighters from the tournament finals including Zeus, Viking, Cobra, Mandala, Matador, Zebra, Jester, Mermaid, Nether, Skull, Asura and Nobel Gundam. Based on a player request we also added in the Zeong and Elmeth this month.

VER 9 is around the corner. This update is focused on Super Robots and Kaiju, who will no longer be using the Power stat as a budget for their weapons, instead they will function just like a Mobile Suit. You view the draft core rules for VER 9 and the unit profiles for Super Robots and Kaiju here: https://mechastellar.com/ver9-drafts/

If you play any games with the VER 9 Draft Profiles please be sure to fill out the After Action Battle Report now on Google Forms. We use this data when it comes to balancing units, adjusting rules, and it’s helpful to know what your favorite units are. Here’s the link: https://forms.gle/PJn5c66JoyJRFtTKA

Last but not least we were lucky enough to be featured on Wargamer this month. You can find the article here: https://www.wargamer.com/warhammer-40k-meets-gundam-mechastellar

Roster Update Summary

-Mobile Fighter G Gundam – Added 17 Units

-Mobile Suit Gundam – Zeon – Added 2 Units

Updating the Layout of Mecha Profiles for VER 9

In addition to updating the core rules for MechaStellar and the Super Robot / Kaiju gameplay in VER 9 we have also been working on an update to the Mecha Unit Profiles based on player feedback. Here are two examples from a draft VER 9 profile. Our goal is to update the profiles by either late May or late June depending on how much feedback we get.

Let us know what you think in the comments below or by using the contact page under the site banner.

UPDATED 02 MAY 2023 – Added 0083 Example pages

Here’s a comparison between the new layout and the old layout below

MechaStellar – GaoGaiGar Miniatures and other Yuusha Series

GaoGaiGar Gashapon Yujin Yuusha Retsuden

On this page we’re going to discuss the different miniatures available GaoGaiGar and the overall Yuusha / Braves series to be used with the MechaStellar Wargame Rules. This post will feature Yuusha and GaoGaiGar gashapon (capsule toys) as well some other small figures that were primarily produced by the toy company Yujin. We have also included the Yuusha Retsuden collection as well.

When playing MechaStellar we advise you to pick either a Versus movie scale (all figures are roughly the same height) or an approximate scale where some very large robots (i.e. 100+ meter robots like Daitarn 3 or Ideon) are represented by larger figures while everything else is around the same height. You can read more about the recommended size and scale here.

MechaStellar Battle Report – Snipers vs Firepower Mecha

GM Sniper Custom

While doing some test games for some adjustments to Snipers and long range skills we put together a pair of games taking some extreme army lists.  For this game we had a match between two Federation forces with one heavily skewed towards Snipers and while heavily skewed towards Firepower units.

You can find the game rules and the mecha unit profiles on the MechaStellar downloads page. The miniatures used for this matchup came from the Gundam Standart and Ultimate Operation collection. You can read more about them here.

Gundam Ground Type Guncannon Guntank Full Armor Gundam

The Firepower forces decided to build a castle in the far corner to protect their units with lower Melee. The Commanders were the GP04 Gerbera and Full Armor Gundam Type B who both used the Unyielding trait.

You can find the game rules and the mecha unit profiles on the MechaStellar downloads page. The miniatures used for this matchup came from the Gundam Standart and Ultimate Operation collection. You can read more about them here.
