[MS] Shenlong Gundam Tactics

Shenlong Gundam (Nataku) piloted by Wufei Chang is a close range dueling Gundam.  Armed with a beam naginata and some rather unique arm mounted dragon weapon it can extend to reach out and crush an opponent or unleash a gout of flame on its enemies.  Playing as Shenlong requires you to advance into melee range as quickly as you can to start devastating the enemy forces. Below are some tactics if you plan on using them in a Gundam Tabletop game or a SRW Tabletop game with the MechaStellar ruleset.

Shenlong is relatively lightly armored for a Gundam, but still remarkably sturdy compared to everything in the Oz arsenal.  Even so, you’ll want to make sure you don’t take too many hits from your opponents shooting weapons, the best way to do this is to get locked into melee combat so you cannot be shot at.  Consider using either the Accelerate pilot skill or using your action on Full Throttle to move quickly across the battlefield.

Both of your shooting weapons are relatively short range, the flamethrower is useful when dealing with multiple clustered enemies, it can also be useful if you are trying to destroy terrain since it is one of the few that can take out forest terrain.  The Dragon Fang is useful for destroying enemy grunts or for draining the Momentum from your enemy Commander before getting into Melee.  This extensible arms is also reflected in a Mech special ability that allows you to Blindside on Melee attack as well.

As for Wufei he is always shown as being extremely dedicated towards strengthening himself and defeating the most powerful opponents.  For him that always meant a single-minded determination to try and take down Treize Kushrenada.  Wufei is best when fighting Skilled or Ace pilots, Shenlong also gains a bonus Melee die as long as its total Melee dice is greater than your opponent, since there are very few units with a higher Melee pool this often comes into play.  In the future we’ll release a Tallgeese II for Treize to use and the Altron Gundam so you can finish their duel on the tabletop.
